The Beauty of Borobudur Temple
The Beauty of Borobudur Temple
Borobudur Temple is a temple built during the Syailendra
Dynasty and is the grandest Buddhist monument in the world. Because of its
grandeur and majesty, the temple built in the 8th century has been designated
by UNESCO as one of the world's cultural heritage (world heritage).
Almost all foreign tourists visiting Yogyakarta target
Borobudur as a must-visit tourist destination. The same is true for domestic
tourists. It feels less afdol if you visit Yogyakarta but do not stop at the
magnificent temple located in Magelang Regency, Central Java.
Borobudur Temple is indeed worthy of being visited by anyone
because this temple is the grandest Buddhist temple in the world and is a
testament to the glory of Indonesia's ancestors in the past. Just imagine, in
the era of manual without the help of computers and without any sophisticated
tools, our ancestors were able to build giant monuments from the stone and
everything was neatly arranged with an interlock system. Not to mention the
greatness of the artists who are able to carve 2672 relief panels continuously.
It is said that if the relief panel is arranged in a row it will have a length
of 6 kilometers. Wow!
Tourists who visit Borobudur can walk around this temple in
pradaksina (rotating clockwise) as did ancient pilgrims. From the first level,
walk to the left and then go up to the next level, so it continues until it
reaches the top. If observant, tourists will find many interesting reliefs.
Besides enjoying the grandeur of the cadi, in the Borobudur
Temple Tourism Park complex there are also many interesting things that can be
visited or tried. For museum lovers, tourists can visit the Karmawibangga
Museum and the Samudraraksa Ship Museum for free. Tourists can also ride
elephant riding, rabbit trains, or tandem bikes to surround the Borobudur
complex.
Enjoy Sunrise and Borobudur Sunset
Enjoying the beauty of Borobudur Temple feels incomplete if
only by walking around the temple halls and up to the top level. The thing that
tourists have to try is to enjoy the sunrise or sunset above the temple.
Sitting leaning against a stone wall filled with relief while enjoying the
sunshine that slowly emerged from behind the mountain and hit the temple
building will make the morning more perfect. Or you can wait for the sun to
begin to float on the horizon from the top of the temple and watch the mega
color changes. All of these things will provide a very memorable experience.
Tips on Visiting Borobudur
The location of Borobudur which is very wide and must be
taken on foot will make tourists easily tired. Therefore, tourists are advised
to wear comfortable footwear in the form of sandals or flat shoes. Don't wear
high heels or wegdes so that your feet don't suffer.
Bring an umbrella or hat to protect yourself from the heat of
the sun.
The best time to visit Borobudur is in the morning when
Borobudur is only open or in the afternoon. Besides the sun is not too
stinging, in these hours the condition of Borobudur is not too crowded so
tourists can take pictures with satisfaction.
